Join us virtually for the 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service & Awards. This event will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube.
This year's theme is, A Conscientious Stance, inspired by Dr King's famous quote, "There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor political nor popular, but he must take it because his conscience tells him it is right."
The keynote speaker will be Mr Thurgood Brooks (see his bio below). The program will include a variety of performances and presentations in honor of Dr. King, and two scholarships will be awarded. The “I Have A Dream” Award will be presented to a Rock Island citizen for exemplary community service and enormous contributions made to the community.
The poet Aubrey Barnes will perform an original piece; radio host Ashley Dean will sing; and Mikayla Hughes-Shaw, Host of Living Local, will emcee the event.
