Basic Function: Under the supervision of Alternatives Program staff and Directors, assist agency programs and participants in promoting the independence and quality of life of older adults and their families.
Basic Responsibilities: Have knowledge of resources and talk with isolated seniors through our Ring for Care Program, assist agency programs by making program packets/materials, make copies, update resources, file, fold brochures, prep mass mailings, work with the Caregiver Counselors to call and assist Caregivers and/or assist with Caregiver Support groups, help prep and attend agency outreach events, become SHIP certified to assist with Medicare and Medicaid applications for Open Enrollment.
Qualifications: Enjoy working with older adults and the general population. Must have the ability to pass a background check. Have good listening skills and maintain confidentiality. Complete initial orientation/training and attend annual meeting for volunteers. Complete an agency volunteer timesheet with a description of tasks performed. Must be able to commit a minimum of two hours a month.
