200 Volunteers needed for WQPT’s biggest event of the year, Imagination Station!
Please join the fun on March 14, 2020 for a family-friendly event that will feature “PBS Program Stations” for the whole family. The event takes place on the beautiful campus of Western Illinois University-Quad Cities and is FREE to the public. The goal is to bring children’s PBS programs to the Quad Cities so that children may see and touch PBS characters and make an association between life and television as a teaching tool.
There will be approximately 18 stations (classrooms) that may include:
• PBS Live Character
• Make and Take Art Activity
• Skill Building Activities based on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math)
• Musical Entertainment
• Games
You may volunteer individually or volunteer as a group. In order for the event to succeed we need 200 volunteers to assist with taking tickets, set-up, parking, activities, and tear down. Volunteers who assist all day will receive a t-shirt and lunch at 11:00 am with a break in between shifts of attendees.
Volunteer Orientation will be held at WIU-QC on Wednesday, March 11th from 5:30-7:00 PM. This is an optional orientation to tell you more about the event, your position, event day logistics and layout of WIU & the event. However, activities volunteers are strongly urged to attend to learn about the activities in your respective stations. You may also pick up your t-shirt at that time.
