DRIVER - MOLINE Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive 2026

Description

2026 NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

United Way Quad Cities is partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), River Bend Food Bank, and Quad City Federation of Labor, for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s largest one-day food drive on Saturday, May 9, 2026. We need volunteers to help collect, unload and box food donations.

Last year, with support of our union partners and 100+ volunteers, we provided over 125,000 meals to Quad Cities families facing food insecurity.

We invite you to join our local letter carriers and our partner organizations in the fight to end hunger in our communities by participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Note: closed toed shoes required while driving or unloading – i.e., tennis shoes or boots.

DRIVERS (2 hours shifts or longer needed): Drivers needed to either follow a postal carrier on a route picking up bags with non-perishable food items in them (either at the mailbox – or on the porch) – or, be given a choice of routes to pick from, or you can meet a postal carrier on their route to unload bags of food out of their postal truck into your vehicle to bring back to the post office you’re volunteering at (it may take 2 trips of you don’t have a big enough vehicle or enough helpers). When you get to your Post Office to volunteer to drive, please remember to pick up the “FOOD DRIVE VOLUNTEER” signs that you will need to tape to a window on either side of your vehicle. Drivers must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license.

UNLOADERS (2 hour shifts or longer needed): Needed to unload bags of non-perishable food out of the vehicles that come in from picking up on the routes. You may have to pull out any glass ware and set aside so it doesn’t get broken and then will place the bags in the appropriate containers that are made available.
