2026 NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
United Way Quad Cities is partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), River Bend Food Bank, and Quad City Federation of Labor, for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s largest one-day food drive on Saturday, May 9, 2026. We need volunteers to help collect, unload and box food donations.
Last year, with support of our union partners and 83 volunteers, we provided 163,000 meals to Quad Cities families facing food insecurity.
We invite you to join our local letter carriers and our partner organizations in the fight to end hunger in our communities by participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
DRIVERS: Pick up food bags from designated locations in the community and deliver them to your assigned post office. "FOOD DRIVE VOLUNTEER" signs will be provided to place on your vehicle's windows for community awareness and safety. Please be mindful of people’s property and prioritize safety while gathering donations. Those who can help drive will receive a gas card as a thank you.
Note: Please select the city you are most familiar with when volunteering to drive. While a truck, SUV, or station wagon is preferred to minimize trips, it is not required. Route details will be provided upon arrival at the post office. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license
UNLOADERS (2 hour shifts or longer needed): Needed to unload bags of non-perishable food out
of the vehicles that come in from picking up on the routes. You may have to
pull out any glass ware and set aside so it doesn’t get broken and then will
place the bags in the appropriate containers that are made available.
Note: closed toed shoes
required while unloading – i.e., tennis shoes or boots.
