200 Volunteers needed for WQPT’s biggest event of the year, Imagination Station!
Please join the fun on October 14, 2023 for a family-friendly event that will feature “PBS Program Stations” for the whole family. The event takes place on the beautiful campus of Western Illinois University-Quad Cities and is FREE to the public. The goal is to bring children’s PBS programs to the Quad Cities so that children may see and touch PBS characters and make an association between life and television as a teaching tool.
There will be approximately 18 stations (classrooms) that may include:
• PBS Live Character
• Make and Take Art Activity
• Skill Building Activities based on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math)
• Musical Entertainment
• Games
You may volunteer individually or volunteer as a group. In order for the event to succeed we need volunteers to assist with taking tickets, set-up, parking, activities, characters and tear down. Volunteers who assist all day will receive a t-shirt and lunch at 11:00 am with a break in between shifts of attendees.
If you are only able to volunteer for one session, please include that in the My Comment section on the next page. Session 1 is 9-11am and Session 2 is 12-2pm.
Children ages 10 and above are allowed to volunteer with their parents/caregivers.
Volunteer Orientation will be held at WIU-QC on Tuesday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m. If you are a character volunteer or handler, this is a mandatory orientation. For all other positions, this is an optional orientation to tell you more about the event, your position, event day logistics and layout of WIU & the event. However, activities volunteers are strongly urged to attend to learn about the activities in your respective stations. You may also pick up your t-shirt at that time.
