The majority of our clients live below the poverty level and rely on state assistance. Our goal is to bring them out of poverty and get on a path to self-sufficiency. The YWCA of the Quad Cities was incorporated in 1917 and opened our current facility in 1952. The facility was built with a pool gym community room and kitchen. In 1985 the YWCA added onto our current facility and added classrooms for child care and school-age children. In 1991 the YWCA collaborated with Rock Island High School and started the Teen Parent & Child Education Center. The center is still going strong today and located within Rock Island High School offering child care for students attending classes.
