Who We Are

World Relief is giving new hope to refugees from around the world. Working with local churches, community organizations and individual volunteers our ministries provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to desperately needy families.

Often refugee families arriving in the Quad Cities have fled terror, war and oppression - resulting in deep psychological wounds and trauma. As they experience the compassion of the Church, refugees from all religious backgrounds are experiencing the healing power of Christ. Through World Relief's housing assistance, employment services, English classes, and other practical programs, refugees are seizing the opportunity to build a new life in America.

WRQC began serving refugees in 1999 as a sub-office of World Relief Chicago. Soon after the creation of this sub-office the need for a more complete, broad range of refugee services in the Quad Cities area became evident. Thus WRQC became an affiliate office of World Relief serving refugees as its own entity. Since 1999 WRQC has served over 2,000 refugees in Rock Island County. These refugees have come from Southeast Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean. World Relief has also served (and continues to serve) hundreds of secondary migrants who have relocated to the Quad Cities.

What We Do

World Relief Quad Cities' mission is to empower the local Church to serve the most vulnerable. In the Quad Cities community WRQC serves as an advocate for the vulnerable and works to create and support other advocates for refugees and immigrants. WRQC provides local churches, organizations and individuals with accurate and up-to-date information on refugee and immigrant issues. WRQC trains, manages, and supports dozens of church partners and volunteers who in turn provide friendship, transportation, cultural and practical education, and emotional and spiritual support to refugees.
