QC Closet2Closet

Who We Are

The average US foster child moves 3 times per year. Homeless youth move frequently as well. When children in these two vulnerable groups move, they often lose their belongings. Foster families receive very little financial support to purchase clothing accessories and hygiene items. That is where we come in! Area social workers, school counselors, homeless shelter staff, foster care summer camp directors, and foster parents refer children for our service. We welcome children from eastern Iowa and western Illinois to be part of our program. QC Closet2Closet has been operating for over nine years. We began by offering shopping events and later expanded to include a care package option.  Care packages consist of seasonal stylish outfits blankets outerwear toiletries and accessories. Most of our guests are foster children but we also welcome homeless children or others referred by social workers (e.g., children who are rescued from the sex trafficking trade but who are not yet enrolled in foster care). Our organization was founded by teenage twins who lived in foster care for five years before being adopted. Their experience was the inspiration for the organization.

What We Do

The mission of QC Closet2Closet is to provide Quad City children and young adults (ages birth-20 years) who are in foster care or who are homeless with age appropriate quality apparel and accessories donated by community partners.
