Who We Are

QCT NIE gives back to the Quad Cities through the following projects/partnerships: ? Newspapers in Education - providing over 25 500 newspapers each week to Quad City Area K-12 schools with over 80 000 kids enrolled. ? Reading Adventures ? a fun free day focused on literacy at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds where every child under the age of 12 receives a free book ? Junior Achievement ? we provide the newspaper experience for their BizTown ? YMCA and Boys and Girls Clubs ? Summer Reading Club ? Children?s Literature Festival ? Boy Scouts of America ?Tiger Cub Media Badge Facilitator ? Workforce Development Site ? for our local high school students ? Technology for Education ? a new program we are launching to provide free technology to kids ? Partnership with the United Way and local libraries to promote literacy ? And many more programs launching soon? Our program donates over $1 900 000 back into the Quad City Area for children?s literacy efforts. Our largest sponsor the Quad-City Times underwrites over 90% of the cost of our programming including 100% of our personnel administrative circulation advertising and marketing costs. The rest of our funding is raised by community donations fundraisers and business sponsorship. 100% of the proceeds go back in into the Quad City Area Community. Our program serves schools within approximately a 70 mile radius from our offices in both Iowa and Illinois. This area includes approximately 14 counties in the two states.

What We Do

Literacy Leadership Inc. is a national organization founded by Lee Enterprises Inc. to support the advancement and promotion of literacy initiatives in the communities it serves. Quad City Area efforts are focused through the Quad-City Times Newspapers in Education (QCT NIE) program whose slogan is ?We Deliver More Than News.?
