Who We Are
The Boy Scouts of America provide a character building citizenship training and personal fitness program for 6-20 year old boys and girls. We also provide a complete volunteer recruitment training and retention program to many volunteers. We provide an outdoor program to all members at Camp Loud Thunder and other locations. Scouting programs help young people make ethical decisions in their lifetime. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the scouting movement. We currently have approximately 3 000 dedicated leaders who are involved in all phases of our program. It is not unusual for scouting volunteers to be involved for 50 or more years. Many of the top community leaders in the Quad City area are currently or have in the past been involved in scouting. Last year 43 members of the United Way board had been involved in scouting demonstrating that scouting does instill values and develop leadership.
