Who We Are
Empower House is the first and only brain injury Clubhouse in the state of Iowa. We are a community that provides empowerment for a more purposeful life after brain injury. We believe in respect, community, and helpfulness, and that everyone has something to contribute. We provide a safe space for our members to grow, build wellness, and thrive to meet their full potential.
What We Do
Empower House serves adults (18+) who have survived an acquired brain injury, be it from a stroke, fall, seizure, tumor, or other injury. Empower House is based on the international Clubhouse model, which focuses on the "work-ordered day." The work-ordered day is our main programming, which allows our members to work on functional skills in a community environment. Our members choose to work in one of three units: kitchen, business, or maintenance, and are responsible for the operations of the Clubhouse, working side by side with staff and volunteers.
