Volunteer: Roosevelt Community Center Computer Lab/Lending Library AttendantWe need at least one person each Saturday to work at the Roosevelt Community Center Computer Lab/Lending Library from 9:55 am-2:10 pm. We will officially open our lab on Monday, October 27th so we need someone to fill in starting Saturday November 1st! Position Summary: The Roosevelt Community Center Computer Lab/Lending Library Attendant plays an important role in maintaining a welcoming, organized, and accessible environment for patrons utilizing the lab’s educational and media resources. This position supports equitable access to books, media, and technology for individuals who may have limited opportunities elsewhere. Attendants serve as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring smooth operations, respectful engagement, and accurate recordkeeping throughout each shift. Responsibilities Opening & Greeting: Arrive at least 5 minutes before open hours. Welcome patrons, answer the doorbell, and escort individuals to the lab or library space. Orient new visitors to lab procedures and posted rules. Visitor Log & Circulation: Ensure all visitors sign in and out, recording name, time, and (optionally) phone number. Track check-outs: limit of 2 books and 2 VHS/DVDs per visit. Remind patrons to return items at their next visit. Resource Navigation: Explain book organization system (color-coded by category, author last name, or youth series number). Direct patrons to computer usage instructions and remind them to sign off. Facility Maintenance: Re-shelve returned items during shift. Clean surfaces and check computer sign-outs 10 minutes before closing. Dispose of trash and secure any lost items in the designated closet. Lock up the lab at the end of the shift. Engagement & Enrichment: If feasible, facilitate DVD movie screenings using the projector for interested patrons (instructions are with the projector). Record shift notes including compliments, complaints, or issues (“all good” if no concerns). We will have something to report this in.
