Pet Partners Volunteers and their certified pet therapy animals provide friendly, welcoming visits with our patients at assisted living facilities or in their homes. Our Pet Partners Program is one of the most beloved parts of the volunteer services we provide. You might even say it’s the warmest and fuzziest aspect of Heartland Hospice! Our volunteers visit our hospice patients and their loved ones, bringing joy and a little puppy love to all they encounter.

We are seeking compassionate volunteers with certified therapy animals to provide comfort, companionship, and emotional support to hospice patients and their families. Pet therapy visits offer a unique and meaningful way to enhance quality of life during end-of-life care.

We are looking for volunteers who can support our Hands Project, which captures a bond that will forever be shared with families. We are seeking photographers - or people who simply like to take pictures - who can take pictures of the hands or our patients and send a black and white photo to the family so they will have a happy memory and a keepsake that lasts through the generations.

Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of patients, families and caregivers and bring the healing power of music to the bedsides of patients? Join us as a Music Therapy volunteer.

We are looking for a tuneful and compassionate music therapy volunteer to provide live acoustic music, one-on-one, to our hospice patients. Music Therapy Volunteers provide soothing companionship through the healing power of music. Volunteers visit patients in care facilities or in their homes, offering live music, recorded music with vocals or instruments to bring comfort, peace, and emotional support during end-of-life care. Music can help ease pain, reduce anxiety and depression, and create moments of joy, reflection, and connection for patients and their loved ones.

Hospice Volunteers perform many important duties. Whether providing companionship to a patient, bereavement support, administrative/office work or Veteran-to-Veteran — volunteers play a vital role that enables Heartland Hospice to meet the needs of our patients, their families and the community.

Our volunteers are essential to providing the level of care and support that patients and their families expect from hospice care helping to make Heartland Hospice one of the leading hospice providers in the region.

Volunteers lend an ear to the patient when they express themselves. Oftentimes their presence alone brings comfort and support. Hospice volunteers also enjoy spending time with the patient, and participating in some of their favorite pastimes, like playing chess, cards, or watching TV.
