Who We Are
FROG is a free summer literacy program for students completing K - 3rd grades. The objective of the program is to strengthen listening/reading skills already learned and prepare the students for the upcoming school year. This is accomplished by engaging the students in group review of the skills and one on one tutoring with trained volunteers. The program typically runs 3 weeks meeting 3 times a week during the summer. In that time students will participate in skills : small group of children working on specific skills they learned during the year. Tutors: each child works one on one with a tutor reading being read to playing a learning game or visiting the library. Craft/Snack: in small groups children will have a snack and work on a craft related to the readings/theme. FROG was founded in 2012 incorporated in 2014 and received its 501c3 status in 2015. It is a nonprofit totally run by volunteers and there is no cost to the families who participate. It's support comes from grants donations and volunteers from the community and business area.
What We Do
Our mission is to strengthen children's listening and reading skills to keep them engaged in the learning process by teaching them to read for enjoyment and information and to establish a habit of reading so that they may become independent learners.
