Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Camp Liberty provides a unique outdoor environment where girls develop leadership skills, build independence, explore nature, and create lifelong memories. Every trail maintained, building improved, and outdoor space enhanced through your volunteer efforts directly supports the experiences that help girls discover their strengths, connect with others, and grow into the next generation of leaders. Your work today helps ensure that Camp Liberty remains a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for thousands of girls to learn, grow, and thrive.
Help restore some of Camp Liberty's most beautiful and frequently used outdoor gathering areas! The pergola and patio behind the Camp Liberty Lodge serve as important spaces where Girl Scouts come together for programs, ceremonies, and celebrations. These same spaces also welcome rental groups throughout the year for special events, meetings, and even weddings. Together, they create a warm and inviting backdrop for countless memories. Over time, exposure to the elements has weathered the beautiful cedar timbers that define these spaces. We're looking for volunteers to help bring back the rich, natural beauty of the wood by applying a translucent oil-based cedar stain that will restore its signature red hue and provide protection for years to come.
Volunteers will:
- Apply stain to the cedar pergola behind the Lodge
- Apply stain to the cedar timbers surrounding the patio area
- Help preserve and protect these high-use outdoor structures
- Enhance the appearance of one of Camp Liberty's central gathering places
Camp staff will have all wood surfaces cleaned and prepared in advance, allowing volunteers to focus on the satisfying work of transforming weathered wood into beautifully renewed gathering spaces.
